The design brief

Problem Statement

Chrono 10:10 needed to address the following key challenges through a website redesign:

Limited Brand Awareness: While well-known locally, Chrono 10:10 needed to broaden its visibility in international markets to compete with other global luxury watch retailers.

Outdated Website Design: The existing website did not reflect the brand’s luxury status and lacked modern features expected by high-end watch buyers. Navigation was cumbersome, and the design didn’t communicate the premium nature of the products on offer.

User Experience (UX) Issues: The website’s user interface (UI) was not optimized for mobile or desktop viewing. Potential customers struggled to find information quickly, and the e-commerce functionality was not intuitive, making purchasing a tedious process.

Customer Engagement: The site lacked personalized engagement tools that could guide customers through their purchasing journey and replicate the high-touch service offered in the physical store.

User Research

Customer Interviews: Interviews were held with both local and international customers who had purchased watches from Chrono 10:10. Insights revealed that the brand’s loyal clientele valued trust, exclusivity, and personalized service. Many expressed the need for a more seamless online experience that mirrored the quality of the in-store environment.

User Journey Mapping: Mapping out typical customer journeys highlighted friction points in the existing website. These included difficulty in navigating product categories, the absence of live chat for consultations, and limited filtering options when searching for watches.

Mobile Behavior: Research showed a significant percentage of users accessed the website via mobile devices. This pointed to the importance of ensuring the mobile version of the site offered the same luxury experience as the desktop version.

Design Process

Discovery & Ideation:

Brand Identity Alignment: A deep dive into Chrono 10:10’s brand ethos—luxury, expertise, and trust—helped form the design principles. The aesthetic had to be clean, elegant, and timeless.

Wireframing & Prototyping: Initial wireframes were developed to visualize site layout and navigation. Multiple iterations were tested with stakeholders to refine structure and content presentation.

User Feedback: Low-fidelity prototypes were shared with existing customers to gather feedback on key features such as product filtering, product presentation, and ease of navigation.

Design & Development:

UI Design: High-quality imagery of watches became central to the design, showcasing craftsmanship and luxury. The color palette was kept minimal—black, white, and silver—with a focus on large, impactful visuals and sleek typography.

Mobile-First Approach: Given the high percentage of mobile visitors, a mobile-first design approach ensured that the site was not only responsive but fully optimized for smaller screens, providing an equally premium experience across all devices.
